In the early 2000s, blogging rose to prominence. British Catholics were part of the trend and many had links to other blogs on their own blog's sidebars. There was just one problem: no one seemed to have anything like a comprehensive list that one could use as a bookmark.
In 2006, that led me to create this blog. My aim was to list as many British Catholic blogs (BCB) as possible. What I wanted was for the BCB list to act as a 'one stop shop' for all publicly viewable British Catholic blogs. Ever since then, I have continued to maintain the BCB list on a weekly basis except for one glorious period in 2019 when I went to France and Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago.
Over the years, the BCB blog has changed very little. Recently, however, I have wanted to develop it a bit further: the social media landscape has changed radically since the 00s, maybe I should try and catch up? The blog that you see today is my on-going attempt to do just that.
The BCB blog now supports a list of British Catholic Blogs, and podcasts from the UK and USA. In addition, I have included a selection of Catholic instagram, YouTube, and Tik Tok accounts from around the world.
In short, I would like to have a blog here that appeals to both Catholics and non-Catholics who are interested in what (other) Catholics are saying.
I am not a party man. I don't align myself to any one wing of the Catholic Church. I am a Traditional Catholic in some respects but am also quite liberal in others. If the BCB blog has only blogs, podcasts, etc from one section of the Catholic Church, then it has failed in its mission. I would like to include social media accounts by Traditional Catholics, moderates and progressives alike. All three have a place in the Church and deserve to be represented.
I hope you enjoy your visit to this blog. May it lead you to places that are good, true, and beautiful. If you would like to drop me a line, I would love to hear from you. My e-mail address is mjmannBCB@gmail.com
